01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the heart of Golconda, Illinois, The Levee Lounge is a captivating Bar & Grill that offers a uniquely inviting experience where flavorful cuisine meets exceptional hospitality. This charming spot effortlessly combines a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with an impressive selection of local and international beers and wines, making it a standout destination for both locals and travelers seeking a memorable dining experience.

The culinary offerings at The Levee Lounge are a delightful fusion of comfort and creativity. Their specialty pies immediately catch the eye—from the zesty, fresh flavors of the Greek Pizza to the rich, savory appeal of the German Pizza, and the seafood-forward temptation of the Shrimpfest Pizza. Each pie is a canvas of vibrant toppings and expertly balanced flavors that crackle with personality and warmth, perfect for sharing or savoring solo.

The Oktoberfest Menu transports guests straight to a Bavarian celebration with authentic items like the warm, soft pretzels and their stuffed counterpart packed with feta and spinach, providing a perfect harmony of creamy and savory notes. Meat lovers will revel in the Smoked Cheddarwurst nestled in a poppy seed bagel or the Miller Highlife Beer Bratwurst paired perfectly with tangy sauerkraut and classic German mustard. For a more refined bite, the Charcuterie Plate is a standout — a beautifully assembled selection of artisan meats and cheeses accompanied by crisp crackers, ideal for pairing with their extensive beer lineup.

The Sandwich Board delivers hearty and satisfying options sure to please cravings throughout the day. The Bistro's BBQ Sandwich offers a smoky punch, while the Philly Cheese Steak brings that classic, melty indulgence. Fresh seafood fans will appreciate the Breaded Catfish and Beer Battered Pollack Fish Sandwiches, both capturing the essence of riverfront comfort food with a crispy, flavorful twist. Meanwhile, the Feta & Spinach Stuffed Pretzel Roll speaks to a clever culinary nod to their Oktoberfest roots, blending soft, warm dough with tangy and herbaceous fillings.

What truly elevates The Levee Lounge beyond just food is its vibrant yet laid-back atmosphere. Multiple visitors have noted the exceptional beer selection – a treasure trove for enthusiasts – alongside a thoughtfully curated range of local wines. The environment is warm and welcoming with a friendly, attentive staff who strike the perfect balance between giving guests comfortable privacy and engaging conversation. Owner interactions and stories add a rich, personal touch that makes every visit feel like catching up with old friends.

Regular patrons like Jim Spann highlight the fabulous environment, and others like Dane Landwehr praise the owners’ friendliness and the unreal beer selection, making The Levee Lounge a go-to spot for genuine hospitality. It’s a place where the charm of the historic building enhances the experience, leaving visitors feeling connected to both the local culture and each other.

In essence, The Levee Lounge isn’t just a bar and grill—it’s a heartfelt community hub where taste, tradition, and excellent service harmonize. Whether you’re craving a creative specialty pie, a savory Oktoberfest treat, or just looking for a welcoming place to unwind with a cold beer in hand, The Levee Lounge promises an authentic and soul-satisfying experience that lingers long after the last bite.

Beth and Tony we're fantastic hosts throughout our entire stay. Beth made us something different for breakfast every day and it was delicious each time The room we stayed in was beautiful and clean and really made us feel like we were home. The Mansion is also right on the Ohio River and offered spectacular views each morning. The beer and wine selection is massive, some of the best beer I've ever had and a truly unique wine/champagne selection. Beth and Tony treated us like we were friends, not strangers, and for that we'll definitely be going back. Thank you guys!

You will get.a truly unique experience when you eat at The Levee Lounge. The building is beautiful and worth seeing in itself. The owners (staff) are delightful people who will leave you to peace and quiet if you like or talk with you and tell you stories as long as you wish. Their grown children are often around and theyare great to talk to as well. I would say those young men helped restore my faith in teenagers these days. Oh, and they have food also. The food is delicious as it is eclectic. I had a Scottish meatball and minced meat pies that were fantastic.

Great local wine selection! And they have lots of local beer options too. The owners are so helpful & nice (and masked!). Tony, one of the owners, suggested a great wine bottle for us and we even bought one to go! Would highly recommend stopping in (or even staying with them!) if you’re in the area.
